Watching for Small Signs

Our salvation comes from

something small, tender,

and vulnerable, something

hardly noticeable. God,

who is the Creator of the

Universe, comes to us in

smallness, weakness, and

hiddenness.

Henri Nouwen

Mainly unexpected. Mostly small.

Always a reminder.

God shows up. Even when I forget to invite.

Somehow He knows. A sign is needed.

My eyes stay open.  For signs. Especially during the empty times.

A bird carrying fine, thin twigs to the summer wreathe on my front door.

Back and forth. Back and forth. A perfectly sculpted nest appears. Followed by five blue eggs.

In my wreathe? On my door? Never happened before. Where I sit on a daily basis. Walk in and out of the front door on a daily basis. A tiny miracle. A tiny sign. God reminders. And they continue to grow.

Every day this nest sings of the hardly noticeable. Gives testimony to the vulnerable. From tiny furballs to emerging feathers. The hiddenness of God.

God sent a sign. His allowing me to watch one of His small tender creatures come to life.

God sent a sign. Of His Love.

Keep Watch.
