Themes
“Wow, you’ve got a theme going on here”, my pet-sitter/friend said as she sludges through the pouring rain to our front door.
“OMG. . .do I ever”
Kate Bowler wrote a book that is my “go to” for times like this, Have a Beautiful Terrible Day! Only my title would be Have a Beautiful Terrible Month. . .or Two!
OMG. . .In So Many Ways! I mean really – plan for the biggest balloon launch in the world.
Seen it. Loved it. Got to take the grandkids.
Rain. Wind. Hail. No morning glow. No balloon launch
The theme continues.
No Mesa Verde. Government shutdown.
No TV in our rustic – VERY- Durango cabin. And the Dodgers are in the playoffs.
Yes, it’s a theme alright. Give it whatever name seems reasonable.
Terrible. Perhaps. I mean not having a washing machine for six weeks due to an unavailable part. Yup. That classifies as terrible.
But the terrible “theme’s” feel different as I mature. I notice more laughter, when disclosing my woe’s. There’s copious shoulder shrugs – that’s just life.
Sometimes theme’s last a bit too long. But I know they won’t last forever. Themes come and go. The good ones along with the bad ones.
There will be another balloon launch in sunny skies. Mesa Verde will reopen. The washing machine is now working! That in and of itself gives me hope.
So, here’s what I’m getting at. Theme’s aren’t permanent. Allow maturity’s wisdom to give strength, courage and hope.
Look in the rear-view. There’s God standing with you in ALL your “theme’s”.
Then look ahead with gratitude. The next “theme” just might be a good one!
OMG. . .In So Many Ways.

I loved your blog this morning, and it certainly struck a note! A note that has made me realize that "things will get better". Thank you for the inspiration.
