A New Name
“Indeed, some of Scripture’s most momentous events occur not at the start of a journey, nor at the destination, but in between, in the wilderness. . . . .It’s worth noting that at the culmination of nearly every wilderness journey is a naming. . .so when we join with our spiritual ancestors in telling our stories of deliverance, we must remember to name each wilderness, to mark those spots where, when all hope was lost, we encountered God” Rachael Held Evans, Inspired
A new naming. Step out of the wilderness into a new naming. Maybe even a new person!
OMG. . .In So Many Ways. . .how did she know? How was she able to put words to my life?
A story of deliverance. Perhaps not that unique after all. Same narrative, different characters. Same wilderness, unlikely new name.
Wilderness? Can lead to deliverance. Move us towards a new name. Possibly we don’t even know what is happening. What has happened.
Wilderness? Staying too long in a relationship. Going to work in a job that has becomes stale. Living in a place that no longer brings joy. A time of worry. Or sadness. Or. Or. Or.
And then there is an encounter . . .with God. “Come with me. Time to walk out of this wilderness”
OMG. . a deliverance. . .but only as we look back. God lifts us out of the wilderness. And we didn’t even know it was happening. Or that we were given a new name. A new me.
What is your deliverance story? Your new naming?
Maybe you didn’t even know you were in a wilderness. But God knew. And He gave you a new name.
OMG. . .In So Many Ways. . . . .It’s worth noting that at the culmination of nearly every wilderness journey is a naming.

How did you know just what I needed as we are being delivered from a deep month of health issues that led both of us to ERs and the hospital. Now recovering at 🏠. ❤️🙏👏
