Confucius Say

Inspiration hits in the darndest places. Like Trader Joe’s.
It was a mad dash. Salad. Bread. Cheese. Chicken. . .etc. etc. etc.
What to have for dinner? Running out of ideas. Never ending.
OMG. . .In So Many Ways. . .I believe gratitude is supposed to be in here. Somewhere!
But no. Just another chore. In what can be a crazy-making place. Trader Joe’s.
Check-out. Hubby trying to bag as quickly as checker runs the total.
“I used to be faster than this. A few years ago.” Says Mr. Macho, hubby.
“Yup,” responds Mr. young cute hair in a pony-tail checker. “It goes by in the blink of an eye. My son just turned a year. Seems like yesterday.”
A conversation ensues. Life is short. Even Mr. Cute Ponytail seems to understand the concept. But my age alone ensures I AM THE ONE WITH WISDOM HERE!
OMG. . .Please listen to my wise words. I’m thinking. I struggle with this daily. Life zips on by. And then there you are – in the season of winter. How can that be?
“Remember this conversation a few decades from now, Mr. Cute Ponytail. You wake up and wonder - where has the time gone!”
“I know,” he responded.” Who was it who said . . I think maybe Confucius. . . You have two lives. The second begins when you realise you only have one.”
OMG. . .In So Many Ways. . .stopped me in my tracks. Gave me chills. A reminder. And from Mr. Cute Ponytail no less. We are given one chance on this merry-go-round. Cherish it. Wrap your arms around it. Stop the daily complaints. If I haven’t begun the second one by now – well it’s time I realized I only have one.
Wisdom in the checkout line at Trader Joe’s
OMG. . .In So Many Ways.
Just what I needed to read! I will embrace this life I have and stop being dissatisfied and, as you said, cherish it! Be grateful!

I think maybe it takes re-realizing.
I can't seem to make the knowledge stick.
