OMG. . .In So Many Ways

This Precious Day

"This is the day which the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

Psalm 118

Or weep and be sad in it for that matter. The point is to see it for what it is, because it will be gone before you know it. It is a moment of light surrounded on all sides by darkness and oblivion. In the entire history of the universe, let alone in your own history, there has never been another just like it and there will never be another just like it again. It is the point to which all your yesterdays have been leading since the hour of your birth. It is the point from which all your tomorrows will proceed until the hour of your death. If you were aware of how precious it is, you could hardly live through it. Unless you are aware of how precious it is, you can hardly be said to be living at all.     Frederick Buechner

The more mature my years.  The more precious the days.  But sometimes grappling with age, is like a cloud hanging over that treasured day. Self-imposed, to be sure.

OMG. . .In So Many Ways. . .there is only one Friday.  November 22, 2024.

I can put up Christmas decorations. Relive memories with each tree ornament.   Walk my precious Molly.  Look in wonder at the magnificent blue sky.  Cotton candy clouds.  Enjoy a happy hour with my friends.

Or I can look back on some holidays with regret.  Wish things could have been different.  Put off the grocery store run.  Sigh at the pile of clothes needing to be washed.  Become annoyed at who knows what?

OMG. . .let me not forget.  Friday , November 22, 2024 will never come again.  I can rejoice and be glad.  I can weep and be sad.  Either way – let me be aware of how precious it is.

Love this! I need to make a copy and put on my refrigerator so I am reminding each day how precious it is!
