Belief?

“The issue of faith is not so much whether we believe in God, but whether we believe the God we believe in.”

~ Theologian R. C. Sproul

A friend recently sent me this quote.  It immediately hit me.  Sort of like a sucker punch.  Do you know what I mean? Like God with a megaphone.

OMG. . .In So Many Ways. . . .REALLY!

Yes, I believe in God.  Oddly enough the journey through Covid, needing to connect in new ways, not finding a church home in Santa Fe; has not led me further from God, but closer.  Strange isn’t it?  Without the brick and mortar, my worship has turned to this natural beauty in which I find myself.

Yes, I think I have come to a place where my belief in God is pretty much unshakable.  BUT do I really believe the God I believe in?

OMG. . .In So Many Ways

Why is it when some crisis comes my way I still think I’m the one who needs to solve it?  This time, this issue, this problem . . . . it’s more than God can handle.  REALLY?  I look back at what I thought to be insurmountable situations, definitely BIGGER than God, which somehow had a resolution.  Hmmmmm. . . Perhaps He stepped in?  Do I believe the God I believe in?

If memory serves me correctly, yes.  But many times it doesn’t.  Thank goodness God has a megaphone. And a kaleidoscope, that when it is twisted and turned, I can look back and recognize how the events in my life have had a beautiful design.  God knows in our humanness- We forget.  We lose hope.  We try to remedy, fix, solve by our own devices.  And He lets us think we know best, all the while loving us through the situation. . .until we remember. . . To  listen to the megaphone.

To look through the kaleidoscope.  “Believe in the God we believe in”

What an amazing God we have!
