Their Eyes

I look into their eyes

and see my life.

I look into their eyes,

and feel the connection.

The longing for love,

given and received.

Unconditional devotion

Freely offered.

The subtle loneliness,

lurking beneath the layers.

A yearning for approval,

acceptance generously given.

The joy of closeness,

The tenderness of touch.

Which says I love you

forever.

The longing of the heart,

when lost in  separation.

Then relief at the vision,

of a companion’s return.

The mourning of loss,

when eyes no longer meet.

Yet sweet remembrance

of souls entwined forever.

I look into their eyes,

and see my life.

I look into their eyes,

and feel the connection.
